We began investing in master limited partnerships (MLPs) in 1998 when there were 12 MLPs with a total market capitalization of $10 billion. MLPs are publicly traded partnerships that primarily own and operate midstream energy infrastructure assets including oil and gas pipelines, gathering systems, storage facilities and terminals. Today, the sector has grown to over 70 MLPs with a market capitalization exceeding $250 billion.

We are the most active player in the MLP asset class with a team of over 40 investment professionals dedicated to the energy infrastructure sector, including our energy closed-end fund group. The private funds team is led by J.C. Frey, portfolio manager of the funds since inception, with David LaBonte, a leading MLP industry research analyst formerly with Citi. We continue to enhance this effort to ensure that we will remain at the leading edge of this evolving asset class.
